The project explores the transformation of urban peripheries where unregistered settlements emerge. Within these non-places, there are no visible fences or checkpoints, yet forms of restriction become more subtle and pervasive, suspending the rights and aspirations for belonging of those who inhabit them. Moving away from urban centers into these border territories, conventional social dynamics are reversed, giving rise to new and often paradoxical forms of belonging. The project investigates the lived experience of people inhabiting these non-spaces, exploring the fluidity of both space and identity while questioning the physical and symbolic boundaries that separate individuals and redefine the notion of home. Ultimately, this research seeks to challenge traditional understandings of belonging.
